    Description

Offered here is a very collectible Black Americana doorstop. It is extremely similar to a doorstop made by the Judd Manufacturing Company in the 1920s. I sold one of the Judd doorstops last week and I have listed a second one today.
My guess is that this doorstop. was also made in the 1920s. I have no idea who manufactured it.
This doorstop is very similar to the Judd doorstop but it is made out of lead and it weighs 6 lbs. 7 oz. versus 4 lbs. 11 oz. for the Judd doorstop.
    Circa 1925
Overall this is in great condition with a couple chips to the paint.  Take a good look at the photographs
The figure is a butler. More specifically the major-domo in charge of the service staff. From his clothes I would guess that he is a character from the time of the colonies. The title major-domo refers to the individual who is in charge of the service staff.
The doorstop is 8 1/2 inches tall 5 1/8 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep. It weighs 6 pounds 7 ounces
Cast iron with a painted finish.  Because these were working pieces of artwork in the days before air conditioning the painted finish has taken some knocks.  But as doorstops go this is in great condition.
I have included a picture from the Judd catalog of the Judd doorstop Along with pictures of the two different doorstops.
