Jugendstil Art Nouveau Erhard & Sohne Brass Inlay Wood Tazza

A beautiful, elegant German Jugendstil Art Nouveau brass inlaid tazza by Erhard & Sohne. A brass form with rich wood inlay with gorgeous patina and markings and extensive brass inlay in typical motifs to the Jugendstil movement such as organic swirling tendrils. The brass gleams in the light, giving life and vibrancy to the darker wood to produce a beautiful overall whole.
Measurements and condition opinion: Measures approx. 4-5/8” high x 8-3/4” at widest and is in very good antique condition. Wood dryness over the years has resulted in some minor cracking on the top surface, shown; the brass exhibits some overall tarnish which may or may not remove... The piece has not been cleaned and retains its patina as found. One of the three metal rods connecting the base to the top seems to tilt a bit off-center. Very subtle, shown in the photos. The bottom looks to have markings from a previous cleaning attempt. Please examine the photos as they are part of the item description to assess condition based on personal expectations and standards.
Marks: The piece is unsigned with the numbers “183” on the bottom.
The piece presents beautifully and is a lovely example of both this firm’s, and the Jugendstil movement’s, work. _________________________________________________
