    Description

You don't see these very often. This Northwood custard glass mug is in great condition. It has a design with a fish, cattails and water lily. Custard glass is an opaque pale yellow glass first made in the U.S. in the 1890s. This type of glass got its yellow tint from varying amounts of uranium oxide being added tot he molten glass during production. Like transparent uranium glass and green depression glass, most custard glass will fluoresce under a black light. The mug measures 4" tall and approximately 4" wide, including the handle. It has the Northwood mark on the bottom. From the estate of a prominent collector of antique glass, this mug is in exceptional condition, with no chips or cracks.
